Rachael Burrus, CPSC

My name is Rachael Burrus, I am the Certified Peer Specialist Coordinator with Missouri Highlands Health Care. A Certified Peer Specialist is a person with "lived experience" who has been trained to support those who struggle with mental health, psychological trauma and/or substance use. My personal experience of these challenges provides me as a peer specialist with an understanding that a professional training cannot replicate as I am a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault, I am living in recovery for substance use disorder, I have learned to handle my PTSD and anxiety. Knowing that I have overcome these obstacles in my life and there are still others suffering led me to becoming a Certified Peer Specialist.
