Missouri Highlands Health Care is seeking to hire a full time Dental Hygiene Assistant for our clinics located in:

  • Poplar Bluff, MO

POSITION IDENTIFICATION

The dental hygiene assistant will be directly supervised by the Dentist(s) and will be ultimately responsible to the Dental Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. General – familiar with all software systems for employee and patient care (EDR, Time Card system, emailing system etc). As needed assist with front desk duties (answering phones, scheduling patients, checking patients in and out, explaining paperwork to patient)
  2. Assist the Dental Hygienist and Dentist in all aspects of providing patient care during a hygiene visit.
  3. Assist in Pre Charting Procedures – Escorts patients to and from dental operatory, captures patient vitals, reviews and updates patient’s documents for completion and accuracy.
  4. Assist in Charting – assists in updating and inputting medical history, dental charting, dental procedure codes, and adding all necessary information gathered in the patient clinical note.
  5. Direct patient care – assist in capturing dental radiographs, polishing and flossing teeth, applying fluoride varnish, applying sealants, documenting existing conditions in the mouth, providing patient with oral hygiene instruction.
  6. Sterilization – Cleans room and equipment throughout office as needed. Cleans and sterilizes instruments and is well informed of all safety protocols within the office.
  7. Tele-Dentistry – Participates as data recorder when tele-dentistry is utilized in the office.
  8. Dental Outreach- participates when required in out of the office programs during dental outreach events. 
  9. Cross Training Duties
    • Reception- as needed assist with front desk duties such as answering phones, scheduling patients, checking patients in and out and explaining paperwork to patients. 
    • Hygiene- as needed assist the Dental Hygienist and/or Dentist in seating patients, capturing x-rays, updating health history, updating patient charting, polishing, flossing teeth, applying fluoride varnish, applying sealants, etc. 
    • Additional Duties 
    • Perform other duties, as required. 
    • Based on Missouri recognized certification(s) held in good standing by any Dental Assistant, additional duties may be assigned according to supervision rules dictated by the Missouri State Dental Board Rules and Statues. 

    Nitrous Oxide Certification: YES___NO___ 

     * Based on direct supervision as dictated by Missouri State Dental Board Rules and statues.    

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be motivated to serve the needs of patients and perform services to benefit people and Missouri Highlands Health Care. 
  • Must possess a sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted dental standards. 
  • Must possess reading and verbal skills necessary to understand and communicate, regarding dental records, procedures, and medication orders. 
  • Must possess and utilize tact and patience. 
  • Must possess a clean and neat professional appearance as well as good hygiene habits.   

REQUIREMENTS 

  • BLS –  Basic Life Support  
  • High school diploma or GED required
