Missouri Highlands Health Care based in Ellington has named Lance Mayfield as interim CEO until further notice. Mayfield takes over as long time CEO Sherilyn Clark retired in December 2013 after dedicating her professional life to rural health care. The new position for Mayfield will be an uncompensated position and will be temporary until a new CEO is hired sometime in 2014.
Missouri Highlands Health Care is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) receiving grants under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act. FQHCs qualify for enhanced reimbursement from Medicare and Medicaid, as well as other benefits. FQHCs must serve an underserved area or population, offer a sliding fee scale, provide comprehensive services, have an ongoing quality assurance program, and have a governing board of directors. The majority of the board of directors are required to be users of the local FQHC.
