Cynthia Brown is excited to start her career as an LMSW at Missouri Highlands Health Care.  She has an MSW from University of Missouri-Columbia and an MPH from Columbia University School of Public Health.  Social Work is Cynthia’s second career.  She has an MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine.  She is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist and Preventive Medicine physician.  She is also Board Certified in Preventive Medicine and Public Health.  She is providing Behavioral Health Consultation and therapy in Poplar Bluff and Doniphan.

Cynthia is active in her community.  She has served on the Poplar Bluff R-1 School District Board of Education since 2004.  She is also an Autism Advocate.

Tyler, his wife Kristina, and Laicee.  One PERFECT grandchild, Maverick.  We moved to Eminence in 2000, where I returned to school gaining my Bachelors in Psychology from Southwest Baptist University, Mountain View; and Masters in Counseling in 2018 from Webster University, Rolla.   I then began my first counseling position in February, 2018 with Missouri Highlands Health Care, primarily as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor.  I enjoy family, fishing, sports, and Christian music such as Petra, Third Day, and Mercy Me.

John McCormack, MD

Dr. McCormack trained at the University of Arkansas medical school. He started general practice in Mammoth Spring, AR in 1980 and moved to Burton Creek Clinic in West Plains in 1986. Retired there in 2017. Dr. McCormack is the medical director of West Plains Christian Clinic which is a free clinic for those without insurance and below 150% of federal poverty level. He has a wife (Sylvia), 3 grown daughters and 2 granddaughters. Hobbies include kayak/paddle board, bicycle riding and reading.

Terra is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) currently seeing patients in the Annapolis Family Clinic and Viburnum Medical Clinic. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Southeast Missouri State University, and went on to graduate from the University of Missouri, Columbia with her Master’s Degree in Social Work. Terra has 14 years of experience working in a variety of settings, including hospice care and minimum-security and maximum-security mental health facilities. She has worked with both individuals and groups, provided care in client homes, taught psycho-educational classes in inpatient hospitals, and provided long term and intensive group therapy, offering crisis intervention as necessary in each role she has served. She specializes in end of life issues, grief, addressing past trauma, mental illness, and working with criminal and sexual offenders. She works with both children and adults, as well as individuals and families, utilizing a broad approach to best meet the needs of each client. Terra has continued to further her education and knowledge in order to best assist those she works with. She has obtained advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and risk assessment and treatment of sexual offenders. Terra resides in Annapolis with her husband and three sons. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring nature.

Jeanie Welch, MSW, LCSW

Jeanie was trained at LSU in the graduate School of Social Work with specializations in Individual and Family Therapy and Group Therapy. She has been in practice for over 35 years and specializes in working with children and adults who have been victims of sexual, emotional and/or physical abuse, as well as, treating adult and childhood depression; group therapy and working with PTSD survivors.

She has worked in a wide range of settings, from mental health clinics and hospitals, to the largest maximum-security prison in the United States and everywhere in-between.

She was blessed to attend seminars with not only Virginia Satir, but also Bandler and Grinder, the early pioneers of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. She also attended workshops with Masters and Johnson. She has also trained in Gestalt therapy and NLP.

Jeanie was licensed first in Louisiana and then in Missouri. Her personal interests are watercolor painting, puppetry, gardening, identification of wild plants, fossil hunting and eschatology. She is an active member in her church and in its youth outreach ministry.

Heidi Allen, LCSW

Heidi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with an office located in beautiful rural Missouri in Pilot Knob. She works with children, young adults, individuals and families using an eclectic approach tailored to the unique needs of each new client. Heidi has over 8 years of experience in a variety of settings and with diverse clients, including both long-term and brief interventions. Areas of expertise include:  Children and adolescents with behavioral and sexual issues; Children and adults with anxiety and depression; Relationship challenges: couples and families; Life stresses and next steps; and working with sexual and criminal offenders.

Heidi graduated from the University of Missouri, St. Louis with her Master’s Degree in Social Work. Heidi is continuously seeking to enhance her skills and broaden her education. For instance, Heidi has engaged in advanced training in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).  Heidi has provided services for individuals and groups both inpatient and outpatient, as well as done crisis intervention and long-term therapy with in a maximum-security facility.

Kathreen (Katie) Friend was born in Poplar Bluff Missouri and grew up in Doniphan. She graduated from Poplar Bluff Technical Career Center in 1997 with her LPN degree. While furthering her education she worked for 10 years at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Pediatrics and Neonatal Care, while employed there, she graduated in 2001 from Three Rivers College with an Associate Degree in Nursing and in 2005 from Southeast Missouri State with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. In 2005 she became the Director of Children’s Services at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center and also began working at St Louis Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In 2007 she graduated from St Louis University with a Master Degree in Pediatric Nursing with a Neonatal Specialty. She began work back in her hometown of Doniphan as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the Ripley County Family Clinic and has been employed in the same building ever since. She is a Member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, the Doniphan R1 School Board, Doniphan Sports Booster club, and the Spiritual Life and Discipleship Board at the Doniphan First Church of God.  She resides in Doniphan with her husband Roy and three daughters, Jakelyn, Jenna, and Jaysa. She loves kayaking on Current River, vacationing to new places, exploring nature, watching her daughters play sports and attending church.

Kylie Strange grew up in Arcadia Valley. She graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing Degree from Maryville University in 2018. She was certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Kylie graduated in 2013 with her Associates Degree as a Registered Nurse from MAC, and in 2015 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Kylie worked as an RN for four years in Kansas City and has experience in long-term care and acute care nursing. Kylie and her husband, Aaron, currently reside in Pilot Knob.

Johnny Miller, CRADC spent the first four years of his career traveling as an evangelist preacher. Then was a pastor in the Assembly of God organization for 12 years. In 1999, Johnny decided to become a Substance Abuse Counselor. Since then he has become a Certified Reciprocal Alcohol Drug Counselor. Johnny has almost twenty years of experience helping individuals overcome addiction. In his spare time, Johnny is working on a book called “My Grief” which he hopes to be on Amazon by 2019.

Dr. Harness has returned to practice medicine in Pilot Knob with Missouri Highlands Health Care. He started practicing on November 15, 2017 at Iron County Medical Clinic, where he had previously practiced for five years. He changed his practice to family practice in 2014 and practiced there for a couple of years. Most recently, he has practiced as a VA physician in Salem, Missouri. Dr. Harness continues to reside in Farmington with his wife and three children. He is excited to be back at Iron County Medical Clinic and to see both old and new patients.

Dr. Amber Richardson, PhD is a clinical psychologist working in the Poplar Bluff office. Dr. Richardson possesses a PhD in clinical psychology in addition to a Masters degree in Counseling and Personnel Services. She has been working in private practice and rural health for several years and is joining Missouri Highland’s as part of the organization’s growing behavioral health program. Dr. Richardson has worked in several clinical settings including inpatient mental health, partial hospitalization programs, natural outpatient settings, and outpatient clinics. As a native Poplar Bluffian, Dr. Richardson is excited continue providing services to rural populations in Missouri Highland’s uniquely integrated medical setting.

Dr. Richardson is devoted to providing quality, evidence based care to individuals with a variety of needs, including psychotherapy, counseling, and psychological assessment. Dr. Richardson is currently accepting patients of all ages Monday through Thursday in the Poplar Bluff clinic.

Dr. Kristen Alexander, a Poplar Bluff native and 2008 graduate of Poplar Bluff Senior High, has earned her doctorate of dental medicine degree and certificate in public heath from A.T. Still University’s Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health in June of 2017.  Her passion to become a dentist blossomed while interning with local Poplar Bluff dentists in high school as well as from her experiences as a scholar in the Southeast Missouri Area Health Education Center’s youth program. Dr. Alexander and her fiancée Marcus Frey, also of Poplar Bluff, enjoy spending time on Current River, fishing, and traveling.  She is excited to be back practicing in her home town and looks forward to contributing to the community’s dental health.

Amy Manning, DNP, APRN, FNP-C is a 2016 graduate of Frontier Nursing University. In December 2017, Amy furthered her education and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree through Frontier Nursing University making her one of the few nurse practitioners in Southeast Missouri to hold this degree. Amy has been a registered nurse for 15 years with hospital and home health nursing experience. As a nurse practitioner, she has worked in women’s health and family practice. She lives on a cattle farm near Ellington with her husband and three children. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time on her farm, spending time outdoors and boating on the river, and attending church with her family. Amy is accepting patients (children and adults) Monday through Friday at the Ellington Family Clinic.
