Board of Directors Application

Missouri Highlands Health Care (MHHC) is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors.

As a non-profit, community-owned organization, we are committed to meeting the primary and preventive health care needs of the residents of Carter, Reynolds, Shannon, Iron, Ripley, Butler, and Wayne counties in Missouri. Our mission is to provide high-quality, cost-effective care and services to all patients, regardless of payer source, with a particular emphasis on the uninsured and underinsured.

Board Member Responsibilities:

  • Ensure strategic board composition and oversee the implementation of the strategic plan.
  • Provide oversight of financial, quality, Health Center Program, corporate compliance, and risk management aspects.
  • Select and oversee the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and approve policies and bylaws.
  • Ensure the board’s own effective functioning through productive meetings and well-functioning committees.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about improving community health and have skills or experience in areas such as health care, finance, law, fundraising, or community outreach. At least 51% of our board members must be consumers of our services, ensuring that our board is responsive to patient and community needs. No board member shall be an employee of MHHC or an immediate family member of an employee, including spouse, parent, child, or sibling through blood, adoption, or marriage.

Missouri Highlands Health Care operates as a government funded Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). FQHC’s are non-profit or public entities that serve designated medically under-served populations. Our board meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of every month at 5:00 PM, typically held at the MHHC Central Office located at 110 South Second Street, Ellington, MO. While in-person participation is preferred, arrangements can be made for virtual attendance via Zoom. Can you commit to attending these monthly meetings?*
