Job Description
Purpose: The Behavioral Health Director administers and supervises the behavioral health program of Missouri Highlands Health Care. He/She helps to implement specific programs, such as substance abuse or youth and family programs. The Behavioral Health Director is responsible for the administration of mental health services within the organization.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversees the study and treatment of patients with behavioral disorders.
- Provide ongoing staff education and represent the organization professionally
- Help with recruitment and training of LCSW’s for organization
- Coordinate staff schedules and meetings
- Works with CEO to develop budgets and apply for grants and other types of funding
- Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable state rules and regulation; stay up-to-date with any legislative changes that can affect the operation of your program.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of administrative tasks such as EMR overview, coding, credentialing
- Leads, supervises, and directs the work of behavioral health staff
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Program expansion and development to meet community needs
- QA and Quality Improvement committee involvement
- Marketing services to the community & physician groups
- Typically reports to CEO

Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work
- At least 2 years of experience is preferred in a community health center
- Ability to work in a professional, confidential, and collaborative capacity
- Sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability and gender issues
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
