Missouri Highlands Health Care is seeking a Dental Assistant for our clinics located in.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Dental Assistants perform a number of duties in a dentist’s office. Some tasks may be clerical. Dental assistants with office duties schedule appointments, keep records, receive payments from patients, and order supplies. When patients come to the office, dental assistants locate their medical records for the dentist’s use.
RESPONSIBILITIES
A. General-familiar with all software systems for employee and patient care (EDR, timecard system, emailing system, etc.).
B. Professionalism- comply with directions from Dentist, Dental Office Manager and Dental Director in all duties. Comply with all policies found in the MHHC Employee Handbook.
C. Chair Side Assisting- assists the Dentist in all aspects of providing patient care during a visit.
- Pre-Charting Procedures- escorts patients to and from dental operatory, captures patient vitals, reviews and updates patient documents for completion and accuracy.
- Assist in Charting- assists in updating and inputting medical history, dental charting, dental procedure codes and adding all necessary information gathered in the patient clinical note.
- Direct Patient Care- assists in all aspects of dental care with diagnostic, restorative, fixed and removable prosthetic, oral surgery, periodontic/hygiene, endodontic procedures.
D. Sterilization- cleans room and equipment throughout office as needed. Cleans and sterilizes instruments and is well informed of all safety protocols within the office.
E. Tele-Dentistry- participates as data recorder when tele-dentistry is utilized in the office.
F. Dental Outreach- participates when required in out of the office programs during dental outreach events.
G. Cross Training Duties
- Reception- as needed assist with front desk duties such as answering phones, scheduling patients, checking patients in and out and explaining paperwork to patients.
- Hygiene- as needed assist the Dental Hygienist and/or Dentist in seating patients, capturing x-rays, updating health history, updating patient charting, polishing, flossing teeth, applying fluoride varnish, applying sealants, etc.
H. Additional Duties
- Perform other duties, as required.
- Based on Missouri recognized certification(s) held in good standing by any Dental Assistant, additional duties may be assigned according to supervision rules dictated by the Missouri State Dental Board Rules and Statues.
- Nitrous Oxide Certification
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Must be motivated to serve the needs of patients and perform services to benefit people and Missouri Highlands Health Care.
B. Must possess a sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted dental standards.
C. Must possess reading and verbal skills necessary to understand and communicate, regarding dental records, procedures, and medication orders.
D. Must possess and utilize tact and patience.
E. Must possess a clean and neat professional appearance as well as good hygiene habits.
F. BLS – Basic Life Support
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times due to a busy office. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Work may require hand dexterity for telephone and office machine operation. There may be excessive standing while working at the check-in counter. May be occasional lifting of supplies up to 20 lbs.
