Missouri Highlands Health Care is seeking to hire a full-time Pediatrician for our clinics in:

  • Poplar Bluff

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A Pediatrician, or Children’s Doctor, is responsible for the medical care of babies and children typically up to the age of 21 and can include physical and psychological disorders and diseases, and delivers ambulatory care services and inpatient services, if applicable. Participates in quality improvement activities. Assumes responsibility for the delivery of services consistent with community standards. Participates in the development of the health care plan; makes recommendations in regards to health services/programs to be offered, delivery sites, and hours of operation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of medicine and licensed as a physician in the State of Missouri
  • Board-certified or Board Eligible
  • Experience in practice and in serving patients from low-income economic status
  • In-depth knowledge of children’s epidemiology and infectious diseases
  • Active listener, patient and calm
  • Current knowledge of drugs/medication appropriate for children and their side-effects
  • Active or Associate privileges at a local hospital
  • Demonstrated professional commitment to providing services to medically under-served persons
  • Experience in practice and in serving patients from low-income economic status
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Computer literate in electronic mail, word processing, and office management system software
  • Adequate vision, sight, speech, and hearing to meet the core duties of the position.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, walk, and lift 25 pounds

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Delivery of Medical Care –

  • Provides direct patient care to ambulatory patients and inpatients, if applicable.
  • May provide professional oversight for advanced practice nurses’ collaborative practice agreements.
  • Serves as a resource for consultation and referral for providers from other disciplines.
  • Ensures continuity of care for services for inpatient admissions.
  • Record medical histories and examine young people from birth to twenty-one years of age; order diagnostic tests and interpret results to help determine medical condition.
  • Discuss test results and explain treatments or medical procedures with patients and family members.
  • Recommend and manage treatment, medication, therapy, vaccinations and additional specialized medical care to prevent or treat diseases, injuries and illnesses; monitor progress and conditions and revise treatments as needed.
  • Advise and educate patients, parents and members of the community in regards to activity, diet, hygiene and other disease prevention methods.
  • Participate in after hours call rotation.

Management of Quality of Medical Care:

  • Participates in the development of a quality improvement system incorporating process and quality outcome indicators.
  • Participates in development and maintenance of medical care protocols and procedures.
  • Participates in quality improvement studies.
  • Participates in review of patient satisfaction surveys and in resolving patient complaints.

Operational Efficiency of Organization:

  • Participates in utilization management and risk management activities.
  • Supports diagnostic and E&M coding accuracy, adherence with the corporate compliance plan, attainment of productivity targets, and claims preparation for third party reimbursement.

Administrative Activities:

  • Participates in strategic planning process for the Center.
  • Participates in development of health care plan to support grant applications.
  • Participates in recruiting providers.
  • Attends at least 50% of the pertinent provider meetings. May attend other specialty practice meetings.
  • Participates in the development of the medical expense budget and supports delivery of services within budgetary guidelines.
  • Participates in information system planning.
  • Assists in development of clinical staffing plans.

Community Outreach:

  • May commit professional time to community service activities on behalf of the Center.
  • Serves as participant in any planned fundraising activities.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assumes responsibility for quality of medical services rendered to patients.
  • Provides professional perspective and direction in development of the health care plan, and strategic plan for the Center.
  • Contributes insight to assure alliance of organizational mission with needs of the medically under-served community.

Per CMS guidelines, all MHHC employees must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 or have an exemption on file by March 15, 2022. Exemption requests are available if needed.
