Q&A

Services Availability During Transition

The operational transition is anticipated to continue through January 30. During this time, some Saint Francis providers and specialists will continue seeing patients on the Poplar Bluff campus. Missouri Highlands Health Care (MHHC) will begin operations on the campus following completion of the transition. As MHHC completes required state and regulatory approvals, not all services will be immediately available on site, including laboratory and imaging services. Availability will vary as services transition.

When will Missouri Highlands Health Care begin operations at the Coppertop facility?

Missouri Highlands Health Care will begin operations at the Coppertop facility onFebruary 2, 2026.

Is my provider staying at the Coppertop facility?

Several providers currently practicing at this location have expressed interest in continuing to care for patients here once Missouri Highlands Health Care begins operations. While contracts are still being finalized, we cannot say with absolute certainty at this time; however, we are very optimistic that most providers will remain at the Coppertop facility.

Our goal is to maintain continuity of care for patients whenever possible.

As contracts are signed, we will continue to update the provider list on our website. If you do not see your provider’s name listed, it simply means we have not yet received confirmation or the contract has not been finalized. We appreciate your patience as this information continues to be updated.

Will the providers on the 4th floor (IMA) be staying?

Yes. The providers located on the 4th floor (IMA) will remain a Saint Francis service and will continue to lease the 4th floor space. These providers are not part of the Missouri Highlands Health Care transition and will continue operating as Saint Francis on the 4th floor.

Does Missouri Highlands Health Care accept my insurance?

Yes. Missouri Highlands Health Care is in network with most major insurance plans, including:
Anthem BCBS, Aetna, Devoted, Ambetter, United Healthcare Community, Cigna, Humana, and Healthy Blue. Along with Medicaid and Medicare.
For providers who are new to Missouri Highlands Health Care, there may be a temporary delay of approximately 60 days while insurance enrollment with health plans is completed. This is a standard process, and the timing is determined by insurance companies.

During this insurance enrollment period, patients have several options:
– You may choose to see your provider and may be responsible for any out-of-network costs, depending on your insurance plan.
– You may reschedule your appointment for a later date once your provider is enrolled with your insurance.
– You may apply for our sliding fee discount program.
– You may see an established Missouri Highlands Health Care provider who is already in-network at another MHHC location or clinic in Poplar Bluff.

Do I need to request my medical records from Saint Francis?

If you plan to continue seeing the same provider at the Coppertop facility under Missouri Highlands Health Care, you do not need to request your medical records. Missouri Highlands Health Care will have access to your records so your care can continue without interruption.
You only need to request your medical records if you choose to transfer care to a different provider with a different health care organization.
