What is PrEP?

PrEP stands for Pre-exposure prophylaxis. It is a highly effective medication for preventing HIV. PrEP can be a pill or shot that reduces your chances of getting HIV from sex or injection drug use. According to the CDC, PrEP is 99% effective at reducing your risk of getting HIV from sex, if you take the medication as prescribed. 74% when taken as prescribe when using injection drugs. 

How much does PrEP cost?

According to the CDC, most insurance plans and state Medicaid programs cover PrEP. If you don’t have insurance, don’t worry! There are several programs that offer PrEP free or at a reduced cost.
